As the third generation of the Winston family to practice optometry, Dr. Sam Winston is continuing the family business. Dr. Sam completed his undergraduate education at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and received his Doctorate of Optometry from Southern College of Optometry in 2011. While at SCO, he was a member of the American Optometry Student Association and Beta Sigma Kappa Honors Society. 

He also completed externships in primary care, ocular disease, glaucoma, pre- and post-operative management, and pediatrics. He is passionate about the treatment and management of glaucoma, along with other chronic eye diseases. Dr. Sam formerly served on the Board of Trustees for the Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians for nine years and is an active member of the American Optometric Association. 

He is a proud graduate of Leadership Knoxville, Class of 2024. Dr. Sam enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, as well as playing golf and traveling.
